Today the local MP for Hastings and Rye, Sally-Ann Hart, has welcomed the new advertising video from Rye Chamber of Commerce, which showcases what local residents and visitors can look forward to when more businesses reopen next month.
On the release of the video, Sally-Ann said "this is a fantastic video that advertises the great businesses we have on offer in Rye. From our independent shops to pubs and restaurants, our local attractions and activities, there is so much we have to offer. Rye is in an incredible place, but it has been hit hard economically by the pandemic, and we all need to do all we can next month to support our local businesses as they reopen. All of the businesses have worked very hard to ensure they have the right social distancing measures in place including the use of face masks, hand sanitisers and distance in shops between customers."
The current plan on the Prime Minister's roadmap out of the current Covid-19 lockdown will see non-essential retail reopen on the 12th April (data allowing), along with other businesses including gyms, hairdressers and personal care stores, outdoor hospitality and others. This marks the second phase of the roadmap unlocking, with the final two stages on the 17th May and 21st June.
"I would encourage all residents and visitors to help support our local businesses next month in Rye, when they reopen. They have had an incredibly tough year and we can now come together as a community, as we did to protect the NHS, to now help give a boost to our economy and local businesses," said Sally-Ann.
