The local MP for Hastings and Rye, Sally-Ann Hart, has welcomed the news that last week applications reopened for the National Lottery Grants for Heritage. This means that heritage projects can apply for financial support from the National Lottery as part of this programme.
After hearing the announcement, Sally-Ann said “I am delighted to see this grant scheme for heritage projects reopen and I would encourage all heritage sites and heritage projects in Hastings and Rye to apply. Last year the National Lottery Heritage Emergency Fund delivered over £50 million in financial support to heritage projects, which was a lifeline to so many. This is another great opportunity for local projects to apply, if they meet the criteria, and receive vital support as we continue to battle Covid19.”
The National Lottery are asking heritage organisations to focus on a high priority outcomes that will strengthen the sector as a whole and help drive the UK’s wider recovery from Covid-19. These priority outcomes include boosting local economies, encouraging and sustaining jobs and opportunities, supporting wellbeing and ensuring heritage plays a part in creating better places to live, work and visit.
“Heritage sites in Hastings and Rye are a real draw for visitors, and now that we have a cautious and irreversible roadmap to recovery, we know that this summer we will be welcoming tourists and visitors back to our area, so having vibrant and flourishing heritage sites to attract them will be vital,” said Sally-Ann.
